High Peak Shooting – Pheasant,
Grouse, Duck & Partridge Shooting Days
The High Peak Shoot has been further improved for the coming shooting
season.
The 2007/8 season
Added Shooting Land
An extra 500 acres of shooting land has been added, giving nearly
6,000 acres in total. The additional land is valley woodland, creating
even more spectacular shooting over the valley. The positioning
of the guns has been improved and we have arranged for transportation
of the guns between drives.
French & Polish Pheasant
We have modified the drives to suit the characteristics of the
birds we are using.
We have added Polish and French birds which have different flying
characteristics to the English birds, to give extremely challenging
shooting. The French and Polish pheasant prefer to take off vertically
and fly even higher whereas the English pheasant will run forward
to the end of the drive, to the flushing point. This gives shooting
from the start of the drive right through to the end.
Grouse Shooting
We are expecting a good grouse shooting season in 2007/8, helped
by the extremely favourable spring weather. We are expecting many
grouse to be available on August 12th. We will be putting extra
birds down to allow more shooting days this year.
